Building a home in the heart of nature is a dream shared by many but realized only by a few. It’s a labor of love, that comes to fruition not because of one person, but by the collective efforts of like-minded individuals. At Suncadia, we engage with partners who share our vision for the community and help our residents design and build homes that embody their desires. Meet Lynn Roman from WoodRidge Custom Homes.

Tell us about the company, and your journey to becoming a Suncadia Featured Builder.

October 13, 2006 was a special day—it was when WoodRidge custom Homes was born. I had experience working on and building homes in the past, but I was always keen on branching out for myself. Together with my partner Cliff Melby, the company has grown

An ancient practice that combines breathing, exercise and meditation, yoga has become increasingly popular in today's busy world, a retreat from chaotic and busy lives. It can be practiced almost anywhere, but its healing powers seem to be enhanced in the great outdoors, surrounded by nature and fresh air.

So it’s no surprise that we at Suncadia are paying homage to this centuries-old tradition by hosting complimentary yoga classes all through the month of September. Held every Saturday morning at Glade Spring Spa and Nelson Farm Pool under the guidance of experienced gurus, the classes will introduce participants to the different aspects of yoga, as detailed below.

A few hours away from the city, but miles away from the ordinary, Suncadia is not just a place, it’s a tribute to the legacy of the land, a community of individuals looking to retreat into nature’s embrace. It’s the reason why we live by the philosophy to respect and preserve the natural character of the site.

Over 4,600 of Suncadia’s 6,400 acre-wide lands are designated open space, home to several stretches of native forest with special conservation initiatives for the indigenous flora and fauna. As part of our commitment to the stewardship of the land, we’ve created a wildlife preserve of more than 3,400 acres known as the Suncadia Conservancy, running along both banks of the Cle Elum River and protected by an agreement with the Kittitas

At Suncadia, you step out of urban life and into something that’s all too rare: a place where you know your neighbors instead of just passing them on the way to work. And as visits become longer and more frequent, you get to know the people who help shape Suncadia into a community you hold close to your heart. You’re on a first-name basis with the yoga instructor, the one who has helped you with that difficult pose you’ve been attempting for years. You know the Fifty-6 Degrees Lounge barman who makes your cocktail just the way you like it, and the concierge who always recommends exactly the kind of activity your kids will love.

In this column, we celebrate the Suncadia staff who play a role in the way residents and guests enjoy their time
